1999-2005 Hungarian Solex S 3800
1999-2005 Hungarian Solex S 3800 General Information:
The original Solex company was purchased in late 1974 by Renault, then one month later by Motobecane (1974-85) which became MBK (1986-88), and then closed up in November of 1988.
The machinery used to manufacture the S 3800 model was eventually purchased in 1993 by Gathy Kiss and Georges Safar and relocated to Hungary, where S 3800s were manufactured until 2005 using leftover French parts and new parts made in Hungary at the Impex / Cyklopress factory in Berettyoujfalu.
By 2005, several of the larger chains of machinery had become worn and were scrapped.
Today, about 60% of the machinery is still in operation manufacturing spare parts in Hungary, but no complete S 3800s have been made since 2005.
Hungarian Solex S 3800s were made from 1994 until 2005.
